20Hr. Children's Services Librarian

Job Description Summary
The Children's Services Librarian understands and follows the mission and values of the Library. Provides reference and Readers Advisory service to Library users, assisting Library users in the use of digital and print resources, selecting, ordering and maintaining juvenile material collections and promoting Library resources, programs and services. Proactively participates in outreach activities and promotes Library services. Collaborates with other staff members as needed and assists in creating a positive environment.
Critical Skills
  • Knowledge of children’s literature and passion to instill love of reading
  • Demonstrated experience in the use of up-to-date technology and electronic resources
  • Strong verbal communication skills to inspire and motivate during programs and presentations
  • Willingness to embrace NPL values: innovation, service, excellence and adaptability
Work Schedule:*
  • Monday 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
  • Tuesday 4 p.m.-9 p.m.
  • Wednesday 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
  • Thursday OFF
  • Friday 1 p.m.-5 p.m.
Every Four Weeks:
  • Saturday 10:30 a.m.-4 p.m.
  • Sunday 1 p.m.-5 p.m.
Every Eight weeks:
  • Friday 5 p.m.-9 p.m. (instead of 1 p.m.-5 p.m.)

  • Annual Vacation Accrual: 1 week per year
  • Holidays: 7 days per year
  • Annual Sick Accrual: 12 days per year
