COVID-19 Update

Last updated October 5, 2020 - Naperville Public Library has been reopened with limited services. Because COVID-19 is still impacting our daily lives, the library must follow standards from the State of Illinois for reopening.

  • The library is open for browsing and checking out materials.
  • NEW! Book a meeting room or conference room in advance for dates in Sept. - Dec.
  • Computer labs are available for use with limited services. Please make a reservation in advance.
  • Customers and staff are required to wear masks while using the libraries. Please follow social distancing guidelines.
  • Our cleaning schedule has increased – staff will clean self-check stations after each use, and high-touch areas will be disinfected more often.
  • When materials are returned, they are not checked in until after a 3-day quarantine. Fines that may accrue on returned materials, during the quarantine period, will be removed.
  • The library reserves hours for vulnerable populations: Monday through Friday, 9 - 10 a.m.
  • Children’s toys, study rooms and in-person programs are not yet available.

As we reopen the buildings, we will need to pause curbside service. Curbside is something we’ve been wanting to do for a long time, and we are so happy to see how well it’s been received by the community. We aren’t currently able to provide curbside and also provide the room for safe social distancing. Please know that curbside service will be back. If you are uncomfortable walking into the library at this current time, you can call our Customer Services desk at each location, and we will be happy to bring your holds out to you – but please note it may take staff a little bit of time to do so.

Naperville Public Library cardholders can continue to use our digital resources from their home 24/7. Customers can stream movies and music on hoopla, get e-books through OverDrive, read newspapers through PressReader, and so much more.

Stay up to date with the library's social media, and we’ll let you know as we’re able to phase in new services. And please reach out if there’s something you need that we’re not currently providing. We want to hear from you so we know what to prioritize.
